Ski Vacation in South Korea

Skiing and snowboarding are relatively new phenomena in Korea, and many Western ski enthusiasts are likely unfamiliar with the terrain, but today there are 14 ski resorts and more in the works. And winter (December to March) is a picturesque, if cold, time to be in South Korea – as well as snow sports, it’s a good excuse to make the most of oncheon (hot-spring spas) as well as the ubiquitous saunas and spicy soups.

Ice climbing near a frozen waterfall, Gugok Pokpo. This waterfall of 165 feet is breathtaking at any time of the year but provides ice-climbers with an stirring challenge when it gets frozen between December and February. Or try your hand at ice fishing.
